So Close...

have you heard of the song "So Close" of Jon Mclaughlin?

the first time i heard that song is when i watched the movie Enchanted.

I already loved it because of the message of the song and it really hit me.

This is really ME! :)

My CAS General Assemby Speech delivered last August 2010

Good afternoon everyone.

“Salus Populi Est Suprema Lex”. This a Latin Maxim quoted by Cicero which means “The Welfare of the People is the Supreme Law”. The Political Science Society has lived by this principle. A principle that speaks to us that in every action that we must take, the people must be at the center.

The Political Science Society continues to do projects that will mold individuals to be productive and morally-upright citizens of the society. Last year, it was a great year for our organization.

We prepared UE Students for the May 2010 Elections. Our organization conducted three Voters’ Education Programs and Seminar which involves UE employees and Students. We posted the list of candidates and their credentials for the UE Community to assess the candidates.

September 26, 2009 was an unforgettable moment to all when Typhoon Ondoy hit Metro Manila. PSS students, despite all the hardships, volunteered to help the citizens of Marikina in a relief operation program with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina.

PSS developed student leaders. Students of Political Science became candidates of the Student Council Elections. They ran under Kaisa Ka Party Coalition, Kapit-Bisig Party Alliance or the newly founded Isang Tugon Students’ Party.

We valued so much our society by developing and learning the true value of FAMILY, of a strong TEAM. We had PSS Christmas Party, PSS Sportsfest, and others.

I am proud to say to everyone that because of these simple projects, we have achieved the highest recognition from the University of the East which is the Most Outstanding Student Organization, UE-Manila last February 26, 2010.

And for this Academic Year, we promise to continue our commitment to develop great leaders and morally-upright citizens.

I am Ryan Martin Macalatan, President and the Tribe Leader of the Political Science Society. We give our ARMS to CASSANDRA. Like the Political Science Society, we want CASSANDRA to mold and develop all of us to be good citizens and great leaders for us to have a brighter future. She will protect us from the difficulties of life. And she will embrace us as a sign of love and care.

I AM A BAMBOO

I am like a bamboo

I sway here, I sway there,

And when the wind blows hard,

I always move just to be with you.

In the shining sun,

I always knew what’s true.

I always grow as high as mountains

And that’s only to for me to protect you.

When triumphs walk into my life,

I stand strong like a true bamboo.

I can conquer the world for you,

Because I know that you’re like a bamboo too.

When I met her, I said, "I WANT TO MARRY THIS GIRL".. but..

It was the Membership Week of the Political Science Society when I first saw this girl. She's a first year student of PS. I don't believe at love at first sight before, but when I saw her, I am completely fell for her.

I met her again when we had the General Assembly of PSS. I might say I was shy back then. I wasn't able to talk to her (only when she asked if she can leave earlier). I was too shy to even ask for her name.

I saw her again during the Mr. and Ms. CAS, I was formally introduced to her by her friend. Her name is Raffell. she's very simple and tall that's why I like her.

It was the Baranggay and SK Elections when I texted with her for almost the whole night. I learned so many things about her, and she learned my secrets too. Starting that day, we texted each other everyday.

Nov 2, 2010. One of the most unforgettable days of my life. I admitted to her that I LOVE HER because i really do love her. That's the truth. I fell in love to a first year student. She's 16, I'm 20. 4 year- difference. I am ashamed on what I have said. But she's the one who got shy. That's really funny.

Dec 2, 2010. I made a very special video for her. I posted it on YouTube. That was the first time I made a video for a very special person in my life. I can say that that was an e-love letter. :)

We had so many happy moments. But we also have sad moments. We even have misunderstandings. I always get jealous. Always mad when she did not text me. Maybe that's my fault.

Because of those memories, I have said to myself "I WANT TO MARRY THIS GIRL" but sad to say I found out that she has a boyfriend right now. It really broke my heart. It ruined my dreams.

I promised not to change because she likes my personality but i have to. I need to change. I have many things to change. I need to give her and her boyfriend space. I do not want to ruin their relationship.

Today, I deleted her number and changed my number. I want to make myself happy. I want to move on and I think that's one of the things that I can do to move on.

She's asking me if I am mad but I did not tell the truth. I always say I AM NOT but deep inside I AM. I REALLY AM MAD but not to her, but to myself. I AM MAD AT MYSELF. :(

Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga kaibgan ko dito sa Facebook na bumati sa akin ngayong araw. Ako po ay natutuwa sa mga pagbati na natanggap ko sa aking wall mula sa inyo. Hindi ko po ito inaasahan. Maraming salamat po talaga.

Pinamagatan ko po tong note na to na BENTE: Isang Pasasalamat mula sa Birthday Boy dahil gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa 20 tao sa aking buhat na nagbigay sa akin ng masasaya (meron din namang malulungkot) na mga araw. Bente din dahil ito na po ang aking edad. ang tanda ko na pala. hahah

Sisimulan ko na po ang aking PASASALAMAT.

1. Una sa lahat kay GOD- God, thank you sa lahat ng binigay mong blessings sa buhay ko. Sa 20 years ko dito sa mundo, alam ko pong hindi niyo ako iniwan. palagi po kayong andyan para gabayan ako. salamat po.
2. Sa aking Ina, Lydia Macalatan- Nanay maraming salamat sa pagsilang mo sa akin sa mundong ito. Sa siyam na buwan na pagdala mo sa akin sa iyong sinapupunan ay hindi matutumbasan ng 20 taon ko dito sa mundo. Sorry kung naging pasaway akong anak. Sorry kung di kita sinusunod paminsan-minsan. Sorry kung di ako naging scholar sa sem na to. Ginagawa ko naman ang aking makakaya ngayon para mabalik ko yung scholarship ko ngayon. i love you Nanay.
3. Sa aking Tatay, Victorio Macalatan- Tatay maraming salamat din sa lahat. Tay sana hindi ka na maglasing. Nakakayamot ka na kasi minsan eh. Matanda ka na. Mamaya maano ka pa dyan. Sorry din kung hindi ako naging mabuting anak pero ginagawa ko naman ang lahat eh. Kung may pagkukulang man ako bilang anak niyo ni nanay, sorry. Tay, alam mo ba namimiss ko yung mga ginagawa namtin nung bata pa ako. yung nagbibike tayo tsaka yung pasan mo ako palagi sa balikat mo. I love you Tatay.
4. Sa aking Auntie, Adoracion Tabirao- Auntie, ayun. alam mo naman na parang ikaw na nanay ko. mas close pa nga ako kaysa kay nanay eh. thank you sa pagpapalaki mo sa akin auntie. Sorry kung di na ako sumusunod sayo. Sorry talaga. Sana auntie gumaling ka na. Sana bumalik ka na sa dati. I love you Auntie.
5. Ate Eng and John- Ate alam mo ba nung isang gabi, umiiyak ako. kasi narealize ko wala na naman akong kapatid na makikicelebrate sa bday ko. ang tagal na nating di nagkikita ate. ang dami ng mga nangyare sa buhay ko na namiss mo. graduation ko, unang pagpasok ko sa college, mga bday ko tapos sa susunod na taon, GRADUATION ko naman sa college. sana ate umuwi ka naman nun. To John, please take good care of my ATE. Ok? I hope you'll love her as much as i love her as my sister.
6. Ate Jeng and Diko- Ate and diko hanga ako sa inyo kasi nakayanan niyong magpalaki ng limang anak. ate ang galing mong maging ina pati ikaw diko bilang ama. thank you sa carbonara na palagi kong handa tuwing bday ko. favorite ko yun eh. thank you talaga.
7. Ate Joanne- Malayo ang age gap natin, 12 years yun. kaya siguro palagi tayong nag-aaway. hahaha. Sorry kung pasaway ako sayo minsan. Sorry kung di ko sinusunod sila nanay, tatay and auntie. Sorry talaga. Sana mag-asawa ka na. matanda ka na. hahaha
8. Tito Rudy and Tita Rose- Thank you sa mga tulong niyo sa amin dito sa bahay. Salamat. Tita Rose, sana gumaling ka na. Love na love kita Tita Rose, naalala ko nung bata pa ako, palagi akong may regalo from you.
9. Ate Kay, Ate Anne and Ate May- kayong tatlong magkakapatid na palaging nag-aaway. haha. nakakatuwa kayo kahit ganun kayo sa isat isa kita naman na mahal na mahal niyo yung isat isa. salamat talaga.
10. Tito Angel- Di mo na daw ako nakikita sabi ni tatay. hinahanap mo daw ako. Tito angel thank you sa lahat ng regalo mo sa akin. parang lahat ng cellphone ko galing sayo. promise babawi ako sayo kapag ako na ang nagtatrabaho.
11. To my Titos and Titas- maraming salamat sa lahat ng tulong po ninyo sa pamilya namin. malaki po ang utang na loob ko sa inyo. Maraming salamat po.
12. To my cousins- salamat mga insan. sana magbonding naman tayong lahat. INUMAN na!! salamat sa lahat.
13. To my nieces and nephews- mag-aral kayong maigi. maging mabait sa mga magulang. WAG GAYAHIN SI TITO YAN. palaging sundi ang mga utos ng magulang ha.
14. To my elementary friends- musta naman kayo? di na tayo nagkikita. matagal tagal na din kasi nung grumaduate tayo sa elementary. Salamat sa expereinces nung elementary.
15. To my high school friends- ano reunion na ba? miss ko na kayong lahat. sa highschool ko natutunan paano maging leader. salamat sa lahat.
16. To my college friends and to my Seniors- thank you sa lahat ng binigay niyong tulong sa akin. sa campaign, sa pageant, sa lahat lahat. Sa PolSci Girls, salamat sa suprise niyo sa akin last year, ayun ang pinakamagandang bday ko. Sa PolSci Boys na kanta ng kanta ng HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTIN, na naging LSS sa akin kagabi pa, salamat sa lahat. sa ibang mga courses na kaibigan ko salamat. to Yela Cardeno of ISSO para sa nag-iisang regalo na natanggap ko. hahaha. nakakmiss yung BULLYTIME ng mga PS students dati.
17. Kuya Allen Mercado, Kuya Jeffrey Arzaga and Kuya Karlo Inocencio- my mentors! thank you sa lahat ng tinuro niyo sa akin kung papaano maging isang student leader. i promise to continue the legacy na ginawa niyo sa PSS. Salamat sa lahat.
18. To my professors- salamat po sa pagguide sa akin as a student. Marami po akong natutunan sa inyo. Thank you Sir DT, Sir Sureta, Atty. Q, Atty. Priela, Mam Reyes, sa lahat po na naging prof ko. salamat.
19. Political Science Society- may aaminin po ako, i almost gave up. muntik na akong tuluyang magresign as your President pero dahil sa tuloy-tuloy na suporta niyo sa PSS ay di ko na po tinuloy. I promise to continue to serve and inspire you. Salamat sa lahat ng pagmamahal.
20. At sa taong mamahalin ko- di man kita kilala ngayon. salamat dahil alam kong ikaw ang taong magpapabago ng buhay ko. :)
